About Us

We are Fuck Cancer — a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization grounded in its belief that raising awareness and providing education about early cancer detection and prevention is the best way to keep the disease from taking lives. We also create positive & enriching life changing experiences for cancer fighters. We’ve been around since 2005, when a cancer fighter by the name of Brandon Sean McGuinness starting thinking about ways to express how he felt about cancer and how he could help others battling this disease. If Brandon was here, he would have told you that life is way too short to let something like cancer get in the way of your dreams and it is our goal to help you continue to appreciate all of the beautiful things that are happening around you. We are a team who are committed to supporting cancer fighters in this battle.

Why We Do What We Do

Brandon was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma, and although he struggled in his fight against cancer, he continued to have the most positive outlook on life. Brandon was a surfer, skater, snowboarder, and was always looking for a good time. Even though he dealt, day-to-day, with the pain of cancer, he was firm that he deserved no more than anyone else, and never asked for sympathy. When Brandon passed away in December of 2007 at the young age of 26, we decided to fully embrace his beliefs and develop an organization devoted to his personal attitude.

Here’s What We Think

Anyone who has been diagnosed with the disease can tell you that cancer is absolutely terrible, but what they’ll also say is that if you’re still able to appreciate what life has to offer, battling this disease becomes somewhat bearable. We agree, and it’s also what we strive to provide for people living with cancer and their families. We are not here to help you focus on having cancer — we know what this disease does, and we don’t need to give it any more attention than it already has. Our goal is to build you up and motivate you to continue the fight. We’ll also work hard to make sure cancer doesn’t take any more lives or destroy any more families. It may seem like an unattainable goal, but we’re committed to it.

Here’s What We Do

If Brandon were still here, he would have told you that life is way too short to let something like cancer get in the way of your aspirations and it is our goal is to help you continue to appreciate all of the beautiful things that are happening around you. We’ve got a team who are ready and willing to support you in this battle. Through our Dyin 2 Live program, we want to enrich lives and bring hope, inspiration, and courage to those in the fight. More than anything, we want you to feel secure and capable of kicking cancer right in the ass. Our first Dyin 2 Live Dream went down in 2011, when we helped a young boy fulfill his dream of meeting his favorite NASCAR driver. Helping you and your loved ones achieve your dreams and find joy in life is what we are committed to and we’ll keep doing it until we find a cure. We also make it possible for you to get involved in our organization and we’ll help you contribute to raising awareness about cancer prevention. Whether through volunteering, hosting a fundraiser, buying our support gear or donating to the cause, you can create a brighter day during one of the darkest times in someone’s life.

What You Can Expect from Us

Fuck Cancer is here to raise awareness, provide resources for cancer prevention, and enrich lives. Although a small portion of donations goes toward administrative expenses and overhead, the majority of your time, money and effort is used to raise awareness and support victims of cancer. With your help, Fuck Cancer will become known for its dedication to fighting cancer and putting an end to late-stage diagnoses. We do this regardless of your race, socioeconomic status, religious beliefs or any other demographic category. Cancer certainly doesn’t discriminate, and we don’t either – that’s why we give everyone equal opportunity to realize that you are not alone and here for a reason.
